Globe Scientific Urine Vacuum Tube, 13×100mm, 6.5mL

The Globe Scientific Urine Collection Vacuum Tube, 13×100mm, 6.5mL is a 6.5 mL vacuum draw tube (yellow cap) for urinalysis specimen collection — pairs with integrated-transfer collection cups for a clean, closed transfer workflow.

Details

The tube the specimen ends up in

This is Globe Scientific’s urine collection vacuum tube in the standard 13 × 100 mm format, with a 6.5 mL fill volume and a yellow cap. It is sold by the case of 1,000.

Why the format matters more than the tube

13 × 100 mm is the size most analysers, racks, centrifuge inserts and tube carriers are already built around. A tube in that format drops into the equipment a lab already owns, which is usually the whole decision: a tube that does not fit the rack costs more in handling than it ever saves on price. The yellow cap is the colour convention laboratories associate with urine collection, so a tray of them is sorted at a glance rather than read one label at a time.

How it fills

The tube draws its own 6.5 mL under vacuum. Used with a collection cup that has an integrated transfer device, the specimen never has to be poured: the tube is pushed into the port on the cup lid and fills itself, closed, in one movement.

Who uses them

Clinical laboratories, physician office labs, clinics and urgent care running urinalysis, and any site that collects urine in a cup but needs it in a tube for transport or analysis.

What it is used with

Pair it with the 120 mL specimen cup with integrated transfer device, and send it in a biohazard specimen transport bag. The rest of the range is on our specimen collection page.

Why a vacuum draw instead of pouring

A urine vacuum tube exists to take pouring out of the process entirely. Once the collection cup’s integrated transfer device is in place, pushing the tube into the port draws the urine sample into the tube under vacuum, in one closed movement — nobody opens a cup, tips it, and hopes nothing splashes. That closed-system handling is what the format is built for: less handling means less chance of a mislabeled or compromised specimen, and a collector who is not handling open vacuum urine at any point in the process. For a site running any volume of urinalysis collection, that one difference is usually the whole argument for switching from a cup-and-pour workflow.

Matching the cap color and format to the workflow

The yellow cap on this tube is a laboratory convention, not a Globe Scientific choice — yellow reads as urine wherever these urine tubes travel, from the collection room to the analyser rack, without anyone checking a label. The 13 × 100 mm body is the same size as the borosilicate culture tube in our specimen range, so a lab that already owns racks, carriers and centrifuge inserts for that format does not need a second set of equipment just because the sample is urine instead of a culture. Buying the tube and the collection cup together, rather than from two different suppliers, is what keeps the transfer device and the tube port actually matched.

Labeling and sending the tube

Label the tube as soon as it fills, at the bench, before it leaves the collector's hand. Then send it to the lab in a biohazard specimen transport bag, with the requisition in the bag's document pouch. A 13 × 100 mm tube fits our 6 × 9 inch bags.

Common questions

Does it ship sterile? It is supplied for diagnostic specimen collection use, not labeled sterile — pair it with your sterile collection cup if the workflow calls for one.

Can I order less than a case? No — sold by the case only: 1,000 tubes.

Does the collection cup come with it? No — the 120 mL specimen cup with integrated transfer device is a separate product, sold alongside it.
