Biohazard specimen bags that seal, absorb and carry the paperwork

A biohazard specimen bag is the transport packaging that gets a patient sample from the point of collection to the lab bench without leaking, without losing its paperwork, and without leaving anyone guessing what is inside. This bag is made by Globe Scientific in one size, 6 × 9 inches, from 2 mil polyethylene, and is printed with the biohazard symbol so that every person who handles it can see at a glance what it holds.

It closes with a glue closure and a tamper-evident pull-liner seal. Once the bag is shut it stays shut, and the seal shows if it has been opened. Globe also sells a zipper version of this bag; the one stocked here is the glue-closure version.

The absorbent pad and the document pouch

Two details do most of the work in daily use. The first is the absorbent pad included inside the specimen compartment. If a tube cracks or a collection cup weeps in transit, the pad takes up the fluid instead of letting it move around inside the bag or reach the courier. The second is the attached document pouch. The requisition, the label sheet or the chain-of-custody form travels in its own pocket, separate from the specimen, so paperwork stays dry and readable and nobody has to reach past a sample to get to it.
