What a 4-panel test covers
Amphetamine, cocaine, opiates and PCP. It is the standard five without THC, and it is chosen for exactly that reason rather than to save cost.
Why leave THC off
Where cannabis is lawful, or where a patient has a prescription, a positive THC result carries no information the programme can act on and creates a conversation nobody needs. Removing the analyte removes the ambiguity.
Regulatory status
The four-panel cup on this page is CLIA-waived, so it can be used for clinical decisions in a CLIA-waived setting. That is not true at every panel count — higher panels often include analytes that are Forensic Use Only.
