What a 12-panel test covers

Twelve panels typically add propoxyphene, tricyclic antidepressants or morphine to a ten-panel set. With nineteen configurations, the count tells you very little on its own — read the chart on each product.

Where the configurations diverge

The common variables are morphine versus opiates, MDMA versus tricyclics, and whether propoxyphene is included. One configuration adds a vacuum lid for transferring the specimen to a laboratory; one is a flat cup for tighter storage.

Adulteration and forensic options

Several add creatinine, specific gravity and pH. One configuration includes EtG and fentanyl, which places it in a different regulatory category — see below.

Regulatory status

Most twelve-panel configurations are CLIA-waived. Any configuration including EtG or fentanyl is For Forensic Use Only — not for clinical diagnosis and not for employment testing. Each product states its status.
