Non-woven or woven gauze
Non-woven sponges shed less lint than woven cotton gauze and wick fluid well, which suits prep and cleaning. For thicker woven sponges in higher ply, see Gauze Sponges.
Sterile or non-sterile
The 2×2, 3×3 and 4×4 in come non-sterile in sleeves of 200, or sterile two to a pouch with the pouches in open trays.
Post-Op Plus sponges
An 8-ply non-woven sponge with an added cotton layer for more absorbency, two to a pouch. Dynarex lists it as non-sterile.
Pressure dots
Sterile 1 in non-woven spheres, two to a pouch, for pressing on an insertion site after a needle comes out. Dynarex lists dialysis as a common use.
