What the sixth panel adds

The standard five already covers marijuana, cocaine, opiates (OPI), amphetamines and phencyclidine (PCP); the sixth analyte is where six-panel configurations diverge. The choice is between benzodiazepines (BZO) and oxycodone, and it is the whole decision at this count. Benzodiazepines catch a broad class widely present in polysubstance use; oxycodone targets misuse of prescription medications specifically. A no-THC variant exists where cannabis is legal locally and screening for it serves no purpose.

What does a 6 panel drug test include?

A 6 panel drug test usually includes the standard five (marijuana, cocaine, opiates, amphetamines and phencyclidine) plus one more, most often benzodiazepines (BZO) or oxycodone.

Not every six follows that pattern. The SAFElife T-Dip 6-panel card on this page screens BZO, COC, mAMP, OPI, OXY and THC from one urine sample. Per its data sheet the cutoffs are 300, 300, 1000, 2000, 100 and 50 ng/mL. It drops PCP and amphetamine in favor of oxycodone and benzodiazepines, which is why the chart matters more than the count.

Six-panel tests are used by workplaces, schools, treatment programs and community-supervision programs that want one analyte beyond the standard five.

Which format to choose

Who orders six-panel screens

Six-panel buyers are almost always programs that started on five and added one analyte for a specific reason: a local pattern of use, a funder’s requirement, or an incident that changed the policy. The order usually comes from whoever owns that policy — a clinical director, a compliance officer, a probation supervisor — and once the configuration is settled it tends to be placed as a standing reorder.

It is common in treatment and recovery programs, drug-free workplace and school drug-testing policies, correctional and community-supervision settings, occupational health, and pain-management practices monitoring adherence — anywhere a urine specimen needs to be screened quickly and the result documented.

Choosing the sixth analyte

Because a six-panel is a five with one addition, which addition you pick matters more than the count on the label. Two configurations carrying the same number can answer quite different questions, so read the analyte list on the individual product before reordering rather than assuming the panel count carries it. Two things are worth checking on the product page rather than assumed from the category: the exact analyte list for the configuration you are buying, and the format, since the same six analytes are sold here as an integrated cup, a compact cup and a dip card. Programs that change one of those without changing the other are the most common source of a delivery that technically matches the order and still is not what the site expected.
