Buying guideThe broadest panels, and which stay CLIA-waived

What a 14-panel test covers

Ten configurations, split between two purposes. The CLIA-waived sets extend a twelve-panel with propoxyphene and tricyclics — broad coverage of prescription substances. The forensic sets trade those for EtG, fentanyl, tramadol and K2.

Synthetic cannabinoids and fentanyl

K2 (synthetic cannabinoids) does not appear on a standard THC panel — a person using K2 screens negative for cannabis. Fentanyl likewise does not appear on an opiate panel. If either is the concern, the panel count alone will not cover it; the analyte has to be named.

Regulatory status — read this before ordering

The distinction matters more at this count than any other. Configurations including EtG, fentanyl, tramadol or K2 are For Forensic Use Only — not for clinical diagnosis, not for employment testing. The propoxyphene and tricyclic configurations are CLIA-waived. Each product states its status.

Reading a 14 panel cup

Every 14 panel urine drug test on this page is an integrated or compact cup. The urine sample goes in, and you read results through the cup wall at 5 minutes. Each analyte has its own cutoff. On the CLIA-waived SAFElife T-Cup 14-panel, for example, OXY reads at 100 ng/mL and PCP at 25 ng/mL. The full chart is on the product page.

Check the regulatory status first. A CLIA waived drug test cup can be used for clinical decisions in a CLIA-waived setting; a forensic configuration cannot. Then check the analyte list. These are multi drug cups, and two with the same count can screen different drugs.

Shelf life is the expiration date printed on each box, so order against it.

Ordering

Cups are sold by the box of 25 tests.

Who orders fourteen-panel screens

Fourteen is the widest count stocked here, and the programs that use it are usually the ones with the least discretion about what they test for: court-ordered and supervision workflows, comprehensive treatment protocols, and laboratories screening broadly before anything is sent on for confirmation. In nearly every case the list came from outside the organization doing the buying, which makes matching it exactly more useful than choosing well.

Where the count stops being the useful question

By fourteen analytes, the difference between one configuration and the next is no longer the number on the label. It is which analytes fill the last few positions, which format the test comes in, and whether the version in front of you is the one the protocol actually names. Programs that reorder on panel count alone are the ones most likely to receive something technically correct and practically wrong. The product page carries the list; a category page cannot.

Comparing and ordering

If a protocol is under review, read this page against the 12-panel and 13-panel pages — and against the narrower counts if the list turns out to be shorter than assumed. The full range is on drug test cups, and the containers, transport bags and tubes that carry the samples are under specimen collection.
