What it is
Soft calcium alginate fiber that turns into a gel as it takes up fluid, so it lifts away in one piece at changes. It needs a cover dressing to hold it in place.
How it is used
Place the alginate directly on the wound, trimmed to size if needed, then cover with a secondary dressing. Change it as directed by a doctor or nurse.
Choosing the right one
