What it is
Advantage sponges are woven 100% cotton gauze, 12 ply, with every cut edge folded inside so no raw edge touches the skin. Dynarex sells them as its economical line. Non-sterile, packed 200 to a sleeve. Not made with natural rubber latex.
How it is used
Pull what you need from the sleeve. Use dry, or wet with saline or a cleanser, to clean skin, prep a site or cover a wound. Throw each sponge away after use.
Choosing the right one
More ply means a thicker, more absorbent sponge: 8 ply for light cleaning, 12 ply for most dressing work. Others in this line: 2 x 2 in 8 ply (3262), 3 x 3 in 12 ply (3263), 4 x 4 in 8 ply (3264). The standard 4 x 4 in 12 ply (3243) is the same size and ply and costs more per sponge.
